MATCH RECAP: TACOMA DEFIANCE DEFEATS TIMBERS2 3-0 AT CHENEY STADIUM

TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (5-2-3, 20 points) defeated Timbers2 (0-2-2, 4 points) 3-0 Tuesday evening in its first match of the season at Cheney Stadium. Cody Baker scored his first professional goal, while Marlon Vargas and Abdoulaye Cissoko each added strikes as Tacoma continues to move up the Western Conference standings, with the club currently riding a six-match unbeaten streak (4-0-2).

Baker bagged his goal in the 29th minute after Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez streaked down the left flank, centering a pass at the bottom of the area that Baker smashed home to give the home side the lead. After a Timbers2 player committed a handball in the area, Vargas converted the ensuing penalty to make it 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Cissoko added the final strike of the match in the 55th minute off a corner, getting his head to the ball played in by Danny Leyva to put Tacoma up three.                  JORDAN MORRIS AND CRISTIAN ROLDAN CALLED UP TO THE USMNT

Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan have been called up to the United States Men’s National Team for the June FIFA window, which includes two international friendlies and two Concacaf Nations League matches.


The USMNT is set to play friendlies against Morocco on June 1 in Cincinnati (4:30 p.m. PT / ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN) and Uruguay on June 5 in Kansas City (2:00 p.m. PT / FOX, Univision, TUDN), before launching 2022-2023 Concacaf Nations League action against Grenada on June 10 in Austin (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+, UniMás, TUDN) and El Salvador on June 14 in San Salvador (7:00 p.m. PT / FS1, Univision, TUDN). SOUNDERS IN COMEBACK DRAW AGAINST PUMAS

Seattle Sounders are in pole position to win the Concacaf Champions League title for the first time in their history after they came back from two goals downto secure a 2-2 draw against Mexican ten Pumas UNAM. Sounders and Pumas shared a four-goalthriller at the end of the first leg which took place in Mexico.

In addition to winning the Concacaf Champions League for the first time in their history, Seattle Sounders can also re-write history by becoming the first team from Major League Soccer (MLS) to win the competition. The two-time MLS champions have work in the second leg at Lumen Field to do to achieve the feat.

SOUNDERS THROUGH TO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

Seattle Sounders are through to the Concacaf Champions League final after seeing off New York City FC (NYCFC) in the semifinals. Seattle Sounders advanced to the final ahead of fellow MLS Team New York City FC after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the second leg. Sounders made the final thanks to a 4-2 victory on aggregate over the course of the MLS Derby tie.


Sounders were able to qualify for the Concacaf Champions League final for the first time in their history after a very good win in the first leg. They had a two-goal cushion from the first leg and were able to finish the job in the second leg courtesy the excellent showing from Stefan Frei. The performance from shot stopper Frei earned Seattle Sounders a 1-1 draw at the home of New York City FC in the second leg. Peruvian attacker Raul Ruidiaz gave Seattle Sounders the lead in the first half before Santiago Rodriguez equalised for the hosts early in the second half. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: SOUNDERS TO FACE NYCFC

Seattle Sounders will face New York City FC (NYCFC)in the Concacaf Champions League semi-finals in what promises to be am exciting tie involving two MLS teams. It is certain that an MLS Team will be in the Concacaf Champions League final this season.

MLS giants Seattle Sounders qualified for the semifinals after seeing off Mexican team Club Leon in the quarterfinals. Seattle Sounders produced a disciplined display to secure a 1-1 draw and advance to the last four of the Concacaf Champions League thanks to a 4-1 aggregate victory. Sounders had already done the bulk of the job in the first leg when they secured a 3-0 win. They would be hoping for a repeat against New York City FC with the first leg in Sounders on April 5, while the return leg is in New York on April 12. SOUNDERS SEARCH FOR WIN AGAINST GALAXY

Seattle Sounders are on the search for a first win of the season as they take on LA Galaxy at Lumen Field this weekend. The two teams come into the game on the back of contrasting starts to the 2022 MLS season. Seattle Sounders have lost all their two games in the new season, while LA Galaxy have won all their two games in the new season and are presently in second spot on the Western Conference table. For Seattle Sounders, last season was a good one in the Western Conference as they finished one point behind Colorado Rapids at the end of the regular season.


In the corresponding fixture last season, Seattle Sounders ran out 3-0 winners at home. Lumen Field has been a fortress for Sounders in recent years, but that was not the case in their first league game this season when they were beaten 1-0 by visitors Nashville SC on the opening weekend of the season. The lost their second league game by the same scoreline at Real Salt Lake with Bobby Woods getting the only goal of the match early in the second half.
