INTER MIAMI SIGN DUTCH DEFENDER

Inter Miami have completed the signing of Dutch defender Kevin Leerdam. The Major League Soccer (MLS) club confirmed his transfer earlier on Tuesday. The Dutchman was a free agent before Inter Miami snapped him up though the club will have to pay fellow MLS team Seattle Sounders a fee to sort out the player’s rightof first refusal.

Dutch right-back Kevin Leerdam has penned a three-year deal at Inter Miami. Inter Miami have acquired the right-sided defender’s rightof first refusalfrom Seattle Sounders for a fee of $75,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). The GAM funds have been broken down to $50,000 for this year and $25,000 for next year meaning that Seattle Sounders will receive the sum of $50,000 from Inter Miami for 2021 before getting the remaining $25,000 for 2022.

MLS CUP: SEATTLE SOUNDERS SECOND FAVOURITES

Seattle Sounders have been installed as the second favourites behind defending champions Columbus Crew ahead of the 2021 season. This is according to the odds from the stables of DK Nation. DK Nation have released the opening odds for the 2021 MLS Cup and Seattle are second behind Columbus Crew. Columbus Crew won the 2020 MLS Cup by beating Seattle Sounders in the final. Seattle Sounders were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Columbus Crew. Ahead of the new season, MLS Cup holders Columbus Crew have not rested on their laurels as they have had the best of the offseason in terms of signing following the capture of both Kevin Molino and Bradley Wright-Phillips. Alexandra Matanis also likely to play a big role for Columbus Crew this season if his move is finalised. Unlike Columbus Crew, Seattle Sounders are potentially without four starters from last season ahead of the new campaign. To this effect, Seattle Sounders boss Brian Schmetzerhas his work cut out if he’s to bring glory to the club at the end of the 2021 season. In a bid to be ready for the new season, Brian Schmetzer has retained his coaching staff at Seattle Sounders. The MLS giants confirmed the line-up of coaches for the new season last week. The new MLS season starts next month.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS LOANEE SUFFERS ACL INJURY

Swansea City player Jordan Morris will definitely miss the rest of the season after he tore the anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) in his left leg at the weekend three years after he suffered a similar injury on his right leg. American player Jordan Morris is currently on loan at Swansea City from Seattle Sounders in the MLS. Jordan Morris ruptured the ACL in his right leg three years ago during a match in the colours of Seattle Sounders in the MLS. The situation is very unfortunate for the American attacker, who was loaned to Swansea City by Seattle Sounders for the rest of this season last month. He suffered the serious injury during the 4-1 loss to Huddersfield Town at the weekend as Welsh team Swansea City saw their Premier League promotion bid take a big hit. The injury to Seattle Sounders loanee Jordan Morris overshadowed the defeat at the hands of the Terriers.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS LINKED TO THE SIGNING OF GERMAN WINGER

United States Major League Soccer outfit Seattle Sounders have been linked to the signing of prolific German winger Kai Pröger as they look to add more players to the squad who have what it takes to take the club to the next level. Sounders have long been admirers of the German superstar and have been tracking him for some time now but have been waiting for the right time to make official inquiries.


However, after approaching the player’s club, it appears as though they may not be going for the player as immediately as expected given the fact that they have been put off by his transfer fee. Sounders lost two of their starting first-team wingers from the Major League Soccer Cup and they are yet to find direct replacements for two of their brightest stars. SEATTLE RE-SIGN DEFENSIVE DUO

Major League Soccer (MLS) football giants Seattle Sounders have made the decision to re-sign two players. Reigning MLS Cup finalists Seattle Sounders have boosted their squad ahead of the 2021 season after they re-signed dedender Jimmy Medranda and goalkeeper Steve Cleveland.


Seattle Sounders signed the two players last year and they have decided to re-sign them for the new season. Seattle Sounders confirmed this new development via an official statement released earlier this week. Seattle Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwaysaid the two players will provide the team with quality depth ahead of the new campaign. PINEDA REJECTS D.C. UNITED JOB

Gonzalo Pineda is expected to return to Seattle Sounders after his failed bid to land the D. C. United job in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Gonzalo Pineda is the assistant coach at Seattle Sounders who reached the MLS Cup playoffs final before they were beaten well by Columbus Crew SC. Seattle Sounders were the defending champions and they failed in the bid to win the competition once again. Gonzalo Pineda, 38, became the assistant coach at Seattle Sounders two years after he retired from football at the same club. The Mexican ended his playing career at Seattle Sounders in 2015 before he was named the assistant coach at the club in 2017. He was hoping to make the step up in his coaching career by taking the D.C. United job but things have not worked out well for him in this regard as reported by the Washington Post last week.


Pineda was offered the coaching job at D.C. United but he was unable to agree a deal with the MLS outfit. Brian Schmetzer has agreed a new deal with Seattle Sounders and that led to questions over the future of Gonzalo Pineda and whether thecoaching staff at the club will remain intact ahead of the 2021 season.
