SOUNDERS END SEASON WITH 2-2 DRAW AGAINST SAN JOSE

The Seattle Sounders drew the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field on Decision Day on Sunday. Nicolás Lodeiro recorded a brace for the Sounders, while Jeremy Ebobisse and Cade Cowell found the back of the net for the Earthquakes. Lodeiro opened the scoring with the fastest goal of Seattle’s season, firing home his sixth of the season just 24 seconds into the match. Ebobisse, however, equalized just three minutes later on a rebound off a save from Stefan Cleveland.


Albert Rusnák nearly gave the Sounders the lead in the 21st minute when his shot ricocheted off the near post. Lodeiro doubled his tally just four minutes into the second half when he unleashed a wicked right-footed volley from the top of the box off a headed clearance from a Sounders corner kick. Lodeiro finished the season with seven goals, the fifth time in his Sounders tenure that the Uruguayan has scored at least seven times in an MLS campaign. SOUNDERS EYEING RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Seattle Sounders are eyeing a return to winning ways on the Major League Soccer (MLS) football scene ahead of their game with hosts Portland Timbers at the weekend. Sounders are guests of Timbers on Saturday evening. Seattle Sounders are on a three-match winless run ahead of the away game with Timbers. They have not won a game on the 2022 MLS football scene since the start of this month.

The last MLS win for Seattle Sounders came against FC Dallas onWednesday, August 3. Uruguayan star Nicholas Lodeiro scored the only goal of the game in the first half from the penalty spot. Since the FC Dallas game, Sounders have played Atlanta United, Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles Galaxy (LA Galaxy) without recording a single win. SOUNDERS EYEING MOVE FOR VETERAN RUSNAK

Seattle Sounders are reportedly keen on signing veteran midfielder Albert Rusnak from fellow Major League Soccer (MLS) side Real Salt Lake (RSL). This is according to journalist Niko Moreno who said that at least one source has confirmed that Seattle Sounders are structuring a deal to sign Real Salt Lake midfielder and MLS veteran Albert Rusnak.

Moreno talked about Seattle Sounders and Rusnak via his official Twitter handle as he said that the quest to sign the veteran midfielder makes a lot of sense as he can function well in either the three-man centre back system or the 4-2-3-1 formation. The journalist said that the versatility of MLS veteran Rusnak could make him a key component for Sounders in their variations of their 3 CBs formations or under their 4-2-3-1 system.
