Seattle Sounders have more options for the upcoming game against San Jose with defender Roman Torres back in training for the team. Nicolas Lodeiro is also likely to be available considering that his lower back injury could be solved by the use of painkillers. These options are very important for manager Brian Schmetzer following the two disappointing results since beating New York Red Bulls. Seattle have been unable to score in the last two games – against Dallas and DC United – and they have only picked up only one point from these matches. As a result, the team has slipped down the table.
Seattle have a two-point deficit to Minnesota United in the second spot of the Western conference. Since there are just two games left in the regular campaign, the team are looking for a boost going into the games against San Jose and Minnesota United. After being suspended for 10 games due to substance abuse, Torres has just made his comeback. He has started training with the team and the defender said that it was extremely frustrating to be on the sidelines. However, his participation in the game against San Jose will depend on his fitness levels. Nicolas Lodeiro, meanwhile, picked up an injury while playing against FC Dallas in the middle of September. He was unavailable for the loss against DC United, but Schmetzer spoke with positivity about his potential for a comeback.

Speaking to the GAFFER Magazine, Pulisic spoke about the strengths about his style of play and he is hopeful of making a good impact in the Premier League, he said: “I think I have a lot of speed and creativity that I can bring to the game; quickness and different attacking abilities that can really help the team. I think I have some tools that can really do well in this league [Premier League]. I just can’t wait.”
The loss against Kansas City Wizards is in the second defeat in three games for Seattle, who have now dropped to 4th in the table with Minnesota United and San Jose Earthquakes ahead. The pressure from LA Galaxy is also turning on with the club just one point behind. Seattle received a double setback after just 33 minutes following a brace from Felipe Gutierrez. Even though Jordan Morris was able to pull one back just before half-time, Erik Hurtado’s goal in the second half made the game safe for Kansas City and rendered the second goal from Morris has only a consolation. The Seattle team has to recover quickly before they face New England Revolution once again at home next weekend.
In such a situation, the game had to go in favour of Seattle, who were playing in front of their own supporters. Just when it seemed that the match was to end in a goalless draw, Kelvin Leerdam was able to come up with a winner in the sixth minute of injury time. This was almost the last kick of the game. Seattle had put in an impressive performance, but manager Schmetzer says that he expected a victory for Seattle after the substantial improvement shown in the second half. The first half was a dull affair with both teams struggling to break the opposition.
