USA international Christian Pulisic believes he has the speed and creativity to become an important figure for Chelsea. The 20-year-old was signed by the Blues from Borussia Dortmund during the winter of 2019 but he has had to wait for a debut, considering he was loaned back to the Bundesliga giants for the remainder of the previous season.

Speaking to the GAFFER Magazine, Pulisic spoke about the strengths about his style of play and he is hopeful of making a good impact in the Premier League, he said: “I think I have a lot of speed and creativity that I can bring to the game; quickness and different attacking abilities that can really help the team. I think I have some tools that can really do well in this league [Premier League]. I just can’t wait.”

Meanwhile, a number of people have touted him as a direct replacement for the departed Eden Hazard but Pulisic is hopeful that he can match up to the achievements of the Belgian at the club, he added: “It is incredible to see what Eden can do. He is a guy to look up to and what I would love to become. It is definitely a goal. Any player would be dumb not to want to be in the same team as him.”

Pulisic had recently featured for the United States during the Gold Cup and it was expected that he would join for pre-season training towards the end of the month. However, he has made the surprise decision to link up with the squad within one week of the Gold Cup final and that has already earned him praise from new manager Frank Lampard.

Chelsea have recently completed a couple of friendlies against Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic in Dublin and they are now on the way to Japan. Pulisic could make his non-competitive debut for the Blues when they face Kawasaki Frontale on Friday.
