MORRIS NEARING SECOND ACL COMEBACK

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris has had a challenging year but it could end on a high if he returns to full fitness. He began the year with a loan move to English Championship outfit Swansea City on loan from Seattle Sounders in the MLS (Major League Soccer).

 

Swansea City signed theAmerican attacker to boost their bid for promotion to the Premier League last season. The 26-year-old Seattle Sounders player then tore the anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) in his left knee during the Championship game with Huddersfield Town in what was an unfortunate situation. COSTA REJECTED MOVE TO MLS TO SIGN FOR MINEIRO

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa has finally returned to football after being an outcast at Atletico Madrid following his decision to sign for Brazilian Serie A side Atletico Mineiro this summer. Costa saw his place in the Atletico Madrid squad vanish from his sight and he became an outcast at the Spanish La Liga champions for many weeks as manager Diego Simeone deemed him surplus to requirements at the club. However, he has finally found a club to play for this season after signing for Atletico Mineiro last week but the Brazilian club were not the only side that were interested in his signature this summer, according to reports.

It was reported on Monday morning that Scottish Premiership giants Celtic were keen to sign the controversial striker this summer but he was not interested in a move to Scotland. And now, it has been revealed that a certain club in the United States Major League Soccer, Seattle Sounders, were also keen to make him an addition to their squad but the MLS giants did not make any official offer to the player and kept waiting to see how things pan out before tabling their first offer to the former Chelsea striker.

MEDRANDA RETURNS TO FORM AT SOUNDERS

Jimmy Medranda is back in form at Seattle Sounders after recovering from the injuries that have plagued him for the better part of the last two years. The Colombian utility player battled with injuries while he was at Sporting Kansas City and Nashville but he’s enjoying a new lease of life at Seattle Sounders.

SOUNDERS HANDED NOUHOU INJURY BOOST

Seattle Sounders have been handed a big boost on the injury front with the imminent return to action for central defender Nouhou.Nouhou is expected to travel with the rest of the Seattle Sounders squad for the trip to face Minnesota United in an MLS game this weekend. Seattle Sounders would be the guests of Minnesota United in an MLS football clash billed to take place in Minnesota on Sunday.

Nouhou has been out of action due to injury for the better part of the last two months. His last game for Seattle Sounders was against Austin FC in the league in May though he has played for his national team during this period. Cameroon international Nouhou played 43 minutes for the Indomitable Lions during the international break in June.

SCHMETZER SURPRISED AT RUIDIAZ OMISSION

Seattle Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer hasexpressed his surprise at the decision to drop striker Ruiz Ruidiaz from the Peru squad for the ongoing Copa America tournament in Brazil. Schmetzer spoke to the media about Ruidiaz, Peru and the Copa America tournament on Friday.

The presence of Ruidiaz in the Seattle Sounders team at the moment is a big plus to Schmetzer and his team but it didn’t stop him from expressing his opinion on the decision to leave him out of the Peru team for the tournament. According to the Seattle Sounders manager, Ruidiaz has been in good form in front of goal and it’s surprising that he was cut off from the team for the Copa America tournament.

SOUNDERS DROP FIRST HOME POINTS

Seattle Sounders dropped points at home for the first time this season after the 1-1 draw with Atlanta United at Lumen Field on Saturday in one the latest set of games in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Seattle Sounders had won all their games in the league this season until they met Atlanta United at the weekend.

Venezuelan international Josef Martinez has had a rough time of late as he had to endure a long-term knee injury. He was out for many months as a result and that led him to missing the majority of the last campaign. Martinez is determined to make up for lost time starting with his goal against Seattle Sounders from the penalty spot.
