Victor Rodriguez relishes Seattle Sounders return

Victor Rodriguez is excited to have made his comeback for Seattle Sounders during the MLS playoffs. The 28-year-old attacker missed the final match of the regular season as well as the semi-final in Vancouver last weekend with a right lateral quad strain.

The Barcelona-based forward netted two goals in his previous two matches prior to his injury, and he made his return as a second-half substitute against Vancouver on Thursday. The crowd at the CenturyLink Field were undoubtedly pleased with his arrival onto the field, and Rodriguez was delighted with the same. Seattle Sounders beat Real Salt Lake 2-1

Seattle Sounders continue their recent improvement by beating Real Salt Lake by 2-1.

This is clearly an improvement from a side that has the unwanted record of having lost the most games in the MLS. Against a side that had the possibility to move into the third place of the table, Seattle Sounders did exceptionally well to win the game.

Seattle Sounders manage to dominate the game from the start to the end. Indeed, they ended the game by having twice as much shot on target than their opponents. Indeed they manage to shoot 18 times on target compared to the 9 by their opponent.

Seattle Sounders opened the scoring in the 24th minute after a great start to the game. They did not allow Real Salt Lake a lot of time on the table, and they pressed them high on the pitch. They will be rewarded with a second goal in the 37th minute to make the score 2-0. The first goal was scored by the Uruguay player Lodeiro who showed his quality on a long shot. Sigi Schmid tried to invent a new position for midfielder Brad Evans

Sigi Schmid tried to invent a new position for midfielder Brad Evans, although it was largely due to the club’s current injury problems.

The midfielder was used as a centre back in the recent match against San Jose Earthquakes. The experiment proved to be a disaster after Seattle Sounders conceded three goals and lost the match 3-2. This turned out to be the first setback of the season for the club and it has come very early in the campaign. Seattle Sounders managed a convincing 3-0 win over New England Revolution in the first match of the season.

This victory raised hopes that the club would challenge for a title this season. However, they have been brought back to earth after this defeat, which leaves them six points adrift of the leaders Dallas even at this early stage.Schmid can take heart from the fact that Dallas have played one game more than Seattle Sounders. Despite the failure in the first match,Schmid intends to carry on with his experiment and it is almost certain that Evans may continue in the centre back position if the club’s injury situation does not improve before the next match against table leaders Dallas. Seattle Sounders are away from home for this key clash. Continue reading “Sigi Schmid tried to invent a new position for midfielder Brad Evans”
