I’m European, i think the Seattle-Portland rivilary is fucking interesting, its cool to see the fans taking parts of the world football culture, you know, the European and Latin america culture and adding that to their own, into one big melting pot. So now I’m watching all the video’s, and hey the football’s not bad either. It’s much more difficult to be a fan of football in the united states than anywhere else, so you know the fans are hardcore, they have my respect

Back when the Sounders were in the old NASL, they had around 12,000-25,000 people (I think their matches were held at the Kingdome) and were one of the top draws in the NASL.

I’m sorry, but enough of that noise. True, there used to be fewer of us in the stands, but we had fun and welcome our new supporters everywhere. A better question for you: if Portland has had better support for longer, why hasn’t that translated into a better managed team? Their GM is the interim coach. That’s insane, he’s responsible for their entire season. They’ve got a Scottish $2mil bench ornament. We grow because we’re a good club, top down. And we’ll continue to grow.

Impressive but where was that support when the Sounders weren’t in MLS? Everyone seems to to talk about what great fans for soccer they have in Seattle but I don’t ever remember them getting much support when they played in the USL.
